Our Burgeoning Culture of Dependency

It seems that whenever there is a shortage, or some group is going without, the expectation is that the government will put its hands into our pockets to bail out the needy.

The government defends itself by endlessly repeating the mantra “It’s a worldwide problem”. However, the “Cost of Living Crisis” is really the “Cost of Lockdown Crisis”and although the war in the Ukraine is a factor, the problems with rising prices and out-of-control inflation, is mostly due to political short termism during the past 12 years and beyond.

Labour’s answer to all problems is Tax the Rich, which hardly encourages me (or anyone else) to start a business.

And the Conservative’s quantitative easing money tree hardly sets them apart from the Socialists. Raising taxes and National Insurance, while sucking green tariffs out of our energy payments, could hardly be described as conservative strategy.

Endlessly repeating the untruth that “We are the party of low taxes”, is becoming really annoying.

If we are to kickstart the economy and have any hope of escaping from stagflation, we need to complete Brexit, lower taxes, dump net zero, and stop ladling out taxpayers money at every tick and turn.
