If you accept that small businesses are potentially big businesses of the future, surely it makes sense to give them a helping hand to become successful?
There is a big song and dance being made about the Conservatives not raising corporation tax beyond 19%.
However, if you care about growth, GDP, job security and the financial health of the UK, wouldn’t it make sense to offer some carefully targeted incentives to SMEs?
If corporation tax was lowered to 15% for SMEs with up to 250 employees, and turnover up to £5 million, do you think this would be a suitable and acceptable incentive that might encourage growth and confidence?
15% – 250 employees and £5 million, are back of the envelope suggestions. Maybe other figures would be more appropriate, but they serve to illustrate the idea.
Any thoughts?
