Cavalry Cres – North Ave – Alternative Accommodation

This is a computer mockup image of the accommodation block Eastbourne Council is proposing to build on the corner of Cavalry Crescent and North Avenue Eastbourne, after demolishing a number of three-bedroom, two-storey, semi-detached houses in Cavalry Crescent and in North Avenue:

In sharp contrast, the following photos are of new build accommodation on the corner of Hyde Road and Calvary Road in Eastbourne town centre. Hyde Road leads off Grove Road.

As can be clearly seen, the maximum number of home units have been constructed with intelligent design, and creating a terrace, rather than a tall block, which would be completely out of character, neither semi-detached houses, which would reduce the number of accommodation units.

The design has also been very carefully presented in order to dovetail neatly into the existing structure and architecture of Hyde Road and Calvary Road.

It is hoped that Eastbourne Council will reconsider its plan to build the proposed block on the corner of Cavalry Crescent and North Avenue.

As a compromise position, terraced two-storey family accommodation could be erected, which would increase the number of accommodation units, without radically changing the visual aspect of the area.

While this suggestion is a compromise, and would result in less accommodation units than the proposed large block, upset, stress and mental anguish within the local community of Cavalry Crescent and North Avenue would be avoided.

All the local residents who have viewed images of the terraced accommodation in Hyde Road and Calvary Road, have been very impressed, and would have no objection to a similar two-storey terraced design being built on the corner of Cavalry Crescent and North Avenue.
