Who Is Mark Ashdown?
Reform UK, is pleased to introduce Mark Ashdown as its Parliamentary Candidate for the Eastbourne constituency in the 2024 General Election.
With a background in engineering, construction, and a passion for sustainable energy, Mark Ashdown brings a fresh perspective to the political landscape.
Mark saw the seventies struggle due to the effects of unelected unions and the three-day week, and now, he sees the country facing similar political and social challenges.
Mark’s journey began with studies in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, but he soon found his calling in the construction industry.
Over three decades, he worked on diverse projects, from large government initiatives to smaller developments. His expertise as a troubleshooter turned around failing sites, demonstrating his commitment to practical solutions.
In addition to his construction background, Mark has worked in the Solar Energy Industry. He advocates for greater adoption of solar energy, recognizing its potential as part of the UK’s energy mix, but without taking away valuable farmland.
Mark Ashdown’s vision for Eastbourne and the UK includes:
Leadership and Direction: Mark contends that other parties lack the leadership necessary to guide the country effectively. In tandem with Reform UK’s policies, he aims to provide a clear direction, free from the constraints of re-election politics.
Health Service: As an NHS supporter, Mark acknowledges the hard work of healthcare professionals. However, he is fully supportive of Reform UK’s innovative plans to eliminate inefficiencies and waste, while speeding up accessibility to frontline healthcare. The Party’s proposal would addresse existing problems before allocating additional taxpayer funds.
Armed Services: Mark emphasizes the need to strengthen the British Armed Forces. He advocates returning forces recruitment in-house, away from failing outsourced providers.
Infrastructure: Mark laments the deteriorating state of roads and the mismanagement of government grants to councils. He calls for a level playing field and less bureaucracy.
